8 1/2 (Otto e mezzo) 1963 Federico Fellini's masterpiece

Although I wasn't introduced to Fellini until my early thirties, he has become one of my favourite directors and biggest influences. Of all his films, Otto e Mezzo is my favourite, not just for the aesthetic of the film, but I love the jaded cynicism of Marcello Mastroianni and of course the surrealism of the piece generally. If you click onto the poster you will see the wonderful 'first sight' entrance of Claudia Cardinale to the music of Rossini and Mastroianni's observation over his glasses... simply gorgeous.
